§ 18-179. Frequency of periodic fire inspections.
The fire marshal shall inspect or cause to be inspected as often as may be necessary but not less than once in six months, all retail, commercial or industrial premises or residential premises with more than three dwelling units in the town, except the interior of private dwelling units, for the purpose of ascertaining and causing to be corrected any conditions liable to cause fire, or any violations of any ordinance of the town affecting fire hazards and exits. Common areas such as hallways and clubrooms in multiple family dwellings are included. Such inspection frequency shall be established in fire inspection criteria submitted by the fire marshal to the town board. Such criteria and any alterations to them shall become effective only upon adoption by the town board by resolution.
